Mum’s Birthday Present

So what do you get the woman who has everything… even a Never-ending Notebook?  Another Never-ending Notebook of course!

Recently it was my Mum’s birthday and I was faced with the dilemma of what to get her.  Over the years we have done the usual things.. jewellery, clothes, even a trip away (which was awesome but sorry Mum, that’s not going to happen every year!)  This year I really wanted to get her something she would use but still felt special.

I made this Notebook Charm to add a little glitz to Mum’s birthday prezzie! (Notebook Charms will soon be for sale too!)

My parents love to travel and spend time in their caravan, which is great for us as they come to visit every few months.  While they’re away, Mum likes to relax with puzzles and usually has a crossword book or something similar in her handbag.   This gave me an idea… maybe I could still make her something personal AND something that she would also find useful.

Introducing Mum’s puzzle-filled Never-ending Notebook!  As you might already know, Never-ending Notebooks are designed to fit A5 inserts and I was very happy to discover that you can get A5 puzzle books!

I found these at the Nextra Newsagent in Stockland, Gladstone.  They had heaps to choose from and they have new editions coming out all the time.  So when you’ve filled up a book, you can replace it with a new one and still have your stylish cover!  I did find one small crossword book from The Reject Shop but they didn’t have the same amount of variety as the newsagents.

Think of the possibilities!  Not only can you use the notebook inserts that come with the Never-ending Notebooks, but any A5 size book or magazine!  Colouring books, crossword books, even novels or self-help books.  The options are endless!

After receiving her present, my mother gave her friend a Never-ending Notebook containing crosswords and puzzles too.  She feels it will be a good way to keep her busy during her upcoming hospital stay.  I’d love to hear from you in the comments if you have found any other types of books to use in your Never-ending Notebooks and where you have found them.

My First Blog Post

Welcome to the first post of The Never-Ending Notebook Blog.  I hope this blog will give you a chance to get to know me and what The Never-Ending Notebook is all about.

A little about me…

I’m a wife to an amazing man, mother to two crazy kids, and as it turns out, a bit of a creative individual.

I don’t remember ever being all that creative or crafty as a child… I was either thinking about horses or riding them.  As I grew up I was always impressed by how talented my mother was at sewing and cooking but I had convinced myself that it must have skipped a generation.  After all, I spent most of my time in home economics at high school unpicking whatever it was I was attempting to make!

Eventually I started to embrace my creative side (although I still can’t sew to save myself!).  When our kids came along and I became a stay at home mum, I started a small jewellery business, just as an outlet for myself.  I loved making jewellery and meeting new people but it was starting to take a toll on my hands and joints.  So in the beginning of 2016, I decided to give it up.

That was supposed to be the end of my creative business journey, or so I thought….

The beginning of The Never-ending Notebook…

I’ve always loved stationary and notebooks and that love affair seems to have grown in adulthood.  I will quite happily wander aimlessly around stationary stores, and if you live in the Gladstone area, you have probably seen me in our local Officeworks many times.  There is just something special about putting pen to paper, although I have been guilty of hoarding notebooks and pens “because they’re too good or too pretty to use”.  Thankfully, I’m getting out of that habit.

Late last year I came across the concept of Travellers Notebooks.  I was instantly hooked and googled everything about them.  What an awesome idea – an interchangeable and very personal notebook system!  I had to have one… So I decided to try and make one myself.  I made one for me… my kids…. and a couple of my good friends who are also addicted to notebooks just as much as me.

With the encouragement (and bullying) of my close friends, I went into production mode and The Never-ending Notebook was born.  There is now a growing number of Never-ending Notebook users in my local area and just last month they went international when I posted one to a friend in Spain.

My hopes for this blog…

This is my first ever attempt at blogging and like anything, I’m sure I’ll get better at it with practice.  I think this will be a great way to share with you all the amazing and different ways you can use your Never-ending Notebook that will ensure it will work best for your individual needs.  Post topics will include; Tips & Tricks, Planning, Bullet Journalling, Events, Give-away’s, Guest posts and many more…

I look forward to getting to know you – your passions and goals.  Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or ideas on products and blog posts you’d like to see.

Thanks for joining me on this journey,

Regards,

Heidi xx
